How My Cat Inspires My Drawings!
We have a female cat named “Micio.” She was a stray cat we saw around town two years ago, and she often followed us when we took walks. Then we decided to take her home. She is a wild, independent cat with a lovely look. At first, she didn’t know how to be close to us, every time we wanted to hug or cuddle her, she would try to escape or give us her paw. But she’s a very special cat because she always wants to take a walk with us. She just follows us, and we don’t need to hold/bind her. She’s like a bodyguard, always trying to protect us. Maybe that’s how she shows her love.
After almost two years, she has become more willing to be cuddled and even wants to play ball with us every day to get our attention. We fell in love with her immediately when she came to our home. She’s like our second daughter and a sister to my daughter. (Like all sisters, my daughter often teases her.)
Before Micio came into our lives, I seldom drew cats, like all cat-loving illustrators, I started to draw cats. In 2022, I wrote and illustrated a children’s book called “Tina and Tiger,” which is about a little girl and her cat. Of course, I was inspired by Micio and my daughter. (About the book: https://margothuang.site/portfolio-item/tina-and-tiger/). In January 2023, I participated in an art challenge on Instagram called “Cats In The Garden.” After a week, I kept drawing cats and flowers/plants to create a series. (About the series : https://margothuang.site/portfolio-item/cat-and-flowers-illustration/). I even made a sticker set of these drawings. (About the stickers : https://margothuang.site/product/cats-with-flowers-sticker-set/). Thanks to Micio, I discovered my passion and love for drawing cats.
Some of my cat drawings are inspired by Micio’s appearance. I forgot to mention that she’s a grey striped cat with white fur under her nose, on her belly, and on her legs. When I look at Micio and my drawings side by side, they look very similar, isn’t it?

In March 2023, I started designing products for our company, Momo Art. The first products are notebooks and sketchbooks with covers featuring cats and flower drawings. When they’re produced officially, I’ll let you know.

I’m grateful that Micio is part of our family. She not only gives us love but also inspires me to draw and create beautiful illustrations. I hope she remains healthy and happy living with us for the rest of her life.
